Join Us for the Rotary Youth Camp 100 Year Celebration - RSVP Required
Thursday, May 23, 2024 - 12:00 PM
22310 NE Colbern Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64086
This is a a really big event for Rotarians. Rotary Club 13 has a centennial celebration luncheon planned for the Rotary Youth Camp on Thursday May 23rd.
We are invited, you and the entire Parkville Rotary club to attend this event as the guests of the camp and Rotary Club 13, Kansas City, Missouri.
We believe that the Rotary Youth Camp is the oldest ongoing Rotary club sponsored project in the world of Rotary. Your Rotary club has been a consistent supporter of our camp, and we would love to have you and your members share in this event celebrating the camps impact with us. There will be no cost to your club members for attending. Let's help celebrate 100 years of the club’s continuous operation serving children.
The only thing that we ask is that youRSVP the week before the event with an approximate number of members who will attend the event.
Fly the Flag Program
Parkville Rotarians,
Flag deployment starts soon, and we always welcome new volunteers to help put flags out. Here are a few facts about the deployment operation to let you know what all is involved.
We put flags out 4 times per year, and we pick up those same flags 4 times per year. They are left in the customer’s yard for 7 to 10 days, around the 4 major holidays. Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day.
Our primary storage location is Meyer’s Funeral Home in Parkville. Volunteers are given a route that is computer generated and covers a specific geographic area following a logical route. Some teams are solo, others are 2 or more people. Each route takes about 2 hours to complete.
We currently have about 400 active flag subscriptions. We always welcome new volunteers. New recruits are paired with a veteran team at first. Also, if you can agree to be a sub, that is very helpful as there is always holes to fill during vacation season. Also, it is also OK to ask a friend or neighbor to participate.
If you have not yet signed up, please consider it, and contact me!

Geeks for Kids Power to Play Event - June 9th
We invite you and all our fellow Rotarians to join us on June 9 as we give kids with movement limitations the #Power2Play.
Over the last 4 years, Rotarians have played a vital role in getting these kids racing - either as volunteers, donors or sponsors. I am one of those folks, and I can say gifting kids custom, electric cars and other assistive devices to get them moving has been one of the best experiences of my life. Join me and find out for yourself what a heart-busting experience it is! Read on for more info.
Happy day!
Rebecca, President of Geeks for Kids
Volunteer for Cultivate KC
Are you looking for a way to volunteer and help out Cultivate KC?
Courtney (who spoke at our club last week) sent this email and I wanted to share with you:
Cultivate KC will be operating a beverage tent at Boulevardia at Crown Center this year on Friday, June 14th and Saturday, June 15th. A portion of proceeds from the event itself and all gratuity earned at our tent will support our organization! If you know of any individuals who would like to volunteer for a few hours serving beer and cocktails (pre-made), I've attached the link for the sign-up HERE. This is a super fun event, and anyone who volunteers gets a free t-shirt, free admission to Boulevardia the day they volunteer, as well as a free ticket to use the other day, or to give away to a friend. It's going to be a great time!
Please use the sign up sheet above if you would like to help out!
