Topic: Visiting Rotarians from Argentina

We're excited to welcome visiting Rotarians from Argentina for a special morning of fellowship and international connection!

We'll gather at 11:30 AM for lunch at Piropos before hearing from our guests about Rotary in their part of the world. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the impact Rotary is making internationally, gain a different perspective on service, and build friendships that extend far beyond our local community.

Rotary is bigger than any one club—it's a global network of leaders, neighbors, and problem-solvers united by a common goal of Service Above Self. Visits like this remind us of the connections, goodwill, and lasting relationships that make Rotary such a powerful force around the world.

We look forward to welcoming our Argentine friends and sharing this special experience together!

Purple Pinky Donut Fundraiser
Results are in!

Please see the message below from D6040 PolioPlus Chair, Randy Smith:

Greetings District 6040 Rotarians,

The Dunkin’ Donuts Purple Pinky Polio Fundraiser was a tremendous success. Rotarians donated a total of $11,755.00, which, with the 7.5x match, results in an impressive $88,162.50.

I would like to thank the fifteen clubs that participated and the volunteers who ensured this fundraiser ran smoothly. As PolioPlus Chair, you made my work very easy. Below are the participating clubs and their donation amounts:

  - Chillicothe: $700.00
  - Independence: $1,550.00
  - Kansas City: $75.00
  - Kearney: $700.00
  - Kirksville: $975.00
  - Lee’s Summit: $1,825.00
  - Liberty: $325.00
  - Odessa: $275.00
  - Parkville: $525.00
  - Plaza: $1,500.00
  - Raytown: $350.00
  - St. Joseph: $480.00
  - Smithville: $350.00
  - Waldo-Brookside: $1,500.00
  - Weston: $625.00

I also want to extend my gratitude to Kent Shelman, Immediate Past PolioPlus Chair, for his guidance, and District 6040 Governor Jodi Sundaram for her constant support.

Special thanks to Dave Baumgartner, the founder of this fundraiser and owner of several Dunkin’ stores. Below is the message Dave shared on June 1 regarding the national results:

"Good afternoon,

The final results are in for the 2026 Purple Pinkie Polio Eradication Fundraiser, and I am thrilled to share that together we raised $1,200,788 for Rotary's End Polio Now campaign.

Every dollar will support the fight to eradicate polio worldwide. Thanks to the dedication of Rotary members, partners, and supporters, we are now down to just two endemic countries. The finish line is in sight.

A special thank you to our generous Dunkin’ franchisees who donated Purple Pinkie Donuts to make this fundraiser possible:

The logistics required to produce and deliver more than 6,000 dozen donuts across multiple states were nothing short of remarkable. This group performed some incredible logistical feats to ensure every delivery was completed on schedule.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the 114 Dunkin’ stores that served as pickup locations for this event. Your participation was essential to its success.

Finally, congratulations and thank you to all participating Rotary Districts. Through your commitment and generosity, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families around the world.

Together, we are helping create a world free of polio.

With gratitude,
Dave Baumgartner"

Thank you all for your dedication to eradicating this disease. We are almost there!

Best regards,
Randy Smith

SAVE THE DATE!
Changing of the Guard Ceremony

In June, our normal Rotary Third Thursday evening social will be held on the 4th Thursday - June 25th, 5:30 PM at Weatherby Lake, C Point Pavilion. This will include the annual "Changing of the Guard" ceremony, as our fiscal year ends June 30th. Typically the event winds down about sunset, and there may be other interesting lake orientated activities during this time period. More details as they become available.

We needed to move the date so we could get this high demand space reserved and confirmed for the Club. Mark Comfort made the arrangements for us this year (thank you). Please mark your calendar and save the date.

Start time is 5:30 PM, and we will have a picnic style barbeque and beverages available for all. The invite includes all spouses and guests, of course … and I do anticipate the cost per person will be in the range of $30-35 per person (a superb value for what you will be receiving). More info will be provided as we get closer to the date.

It has been a number of years since we have been to this location, and I know you all will have a great time.

Thanks all,

Dave Rittman
