Joe Parente, Parkville Rotarian and City Administrator of Parkville, will provide a recap of some of the important issues, projects, and initiatives that impacted the community in 2020, as well as what to look forward to in 2021.
COVID-19 UPDATE: Parkville Rotary has been meeting virtually since mid-March 2020 due to the pandemic. Our club will continue to meet virtually until the Parkville Rotary Board determines it is again safe for our members and guests to meet in-person.
MEET STINE KHYN, OUR NEWEST MEMBER!
On January 8th, Stine Khyn was inducted into our Rotary Club. Dalyn Novak was her sponsor. Dalyn was introduced to Stine through an Overland Park Rotarian and friend, Trish Reedy. Stine's name is pronounced Stee-na Keen. Below is a bio that she wrote so that everyone can get to know her in this crazy pandemic world that we are in right now!
I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. I did my bachelor's degree and Master's degree at Copenhagen Business School studying BA in English & Organizational Communication and MBA in Leadership and Organizational Communication. Both my Theses were on Change Management and Communicating Change. I did my study abroad in London, England at University of Westminster, studying Organizational Psychology.
During my studies I worked for a different organization, where I met the girl who introduced me to Rotaract. I served on the board of Copenhagen Rotaract Club for a couple of years, and then stopped when I was working towards moving to America.
I met my husband Jake in 2015 when I returned from living in Costa Rica, while he was living in Denmark as a Marine Security Guard protecting the American Embassy. We got married in 2018 when I moved over here. Now I live north of Weatherby Lake with Jake and my 12-year old stepdaughter Rylee. She lives with us 50% of the time, and goes to school in Liberty.
Rylee looks (looked) up to the late Justice Ginsberg as her superhero, she enjoys Girl Scouts, and Pre-competition swimming on non-pandemic days. Jake is a maintenance electrician at Kocher & Beck in Lenexa. I work for a fellow Rotarian (Overland Park Rotary) Trish Reedy, at Trusted Lending Center as a mortgage processor. Rylee is selling girl scout cookies if anyone would like to buy some!
I am still finding my way around Kansas City (three years later) but back home I enjoyed Yoga, sang in an International Choir, and liked finding hole-in-the-wall type cocktail bars with my little sister who is a sommelier.
