In Memory Of
Debra Kay Hopkins – 09/09/25
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the wonderful life of Debra Kay Hopkins on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service commencing at 3:00 p.m. Urn placement and final committal service will immediately follow at the new Parkville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter or Salvation Army, and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Debra Kay Hopkins, 68, of Kansas City, MO departed this life for heaven on September 9, 2025 after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Debra was born April 16, 1957 to Floyd W. and Nile (Beaman) Lollar in Chillicothe. MO.
Debra leaves her husband Mike; son Garrett Hopkins of Madison, WI; daughter-in-law, Dr. Stephanie Hopkins; two grandsons, Harvey and William. She also leaves her two older sisters, Nila and Nina; two younger brothers, Ricky and Melvin.
A lifelong career in banking was highlighted as a Loan Officer, Correspondent Banker, Branch Management and a host of other job titles that covered over 40 years in Kansas City financial institutions. Companies served included: American Bank, Boatman’s, First National Bank of Platte County and Platte Vally Bank.
While serving as a bank executive she had philanthropic endeavors, including serving as Rotary President, Hillcrest Gala fund raising chairman, Synergy Services Board Chairman, Parkville Chamber of Commerce President and a host of other organizational advisor positions.
The Hopkins family wishes to thank St. Luke’s Hospice, Oncology, and Gastroenterology departments for their quality services. KU Medical Center and MD Anderson were also involved in the detection and treatment of her cancer.
Lastly, a thank you to her friends that spanned high school, professional and social times for the inspiring and everlasting support. A friend to all and a friend for life, she will be sorely missed by generations of people she came in contact with.
Todd DeMint will be our funeral director and personal concierge serving the family.
Debbie will be greatly missed by Parkville Rotary. She served as President in 2011-2012 and was most recently an Honorary Member.
Celebrate World Polio Day with the City of Parkville
Please join us on Tuesday, October 21 at 6:00 PM at Parkville City Hall as the City of Parkville presents a Proclamation for National Polio Day to our Rotary Club.
This is a special opportunity to showcase Rotary’s continued fight to end polio and highlight the impact our club and Rotary International have made worldwide.
We are honored that our District Governor, Jodi Sundaram, will also be in attendance.
Let’s show strong support from our club by being present, wearing Rotary Shirts and pins, and standing together in the community.
