This Friday is a 5th Friday so there will be no meeting. We will see you next week!
COVID-19 UPDATE: Parkville Rotary has been meeting virtually since mid-March due to the pandemic. Our club will continue to meet virtually until the Parkville Rotary Board determines it is again safe for our members and guests to meet in-person.
World Polio Day - October 24th
Friday afternoon last week Mayor Nan Johnston gave Parkville Rotary a framed copy of the proclamation that was made at the Board of Alderman last week. Left to Right: Mayor Nan Johnston, Dalyn Novak, Lee McLain, and Alderman Dave Rittman - all Rotarians!
Thank you City of Parkville and Board of Aldermen!
Parkville Rotary & Thrivent Choice®
Parkville Rotary Charities is now enrolled in Thrivent Choice® meaning that Thrivent clients can elect to make personal donations through Thrivent to our club. Thrivent members get what are called "choice dollars" (accrued charity dollars) for being members that they can then designate to charities of their choice. Other organizations that are enrolled in the program and receive donations through choice dollars include churches, foundations, boy scouts, etc.
Disclaimer: This is not meant to take the place of donations made directly to our club. This is also not meant to be an endorsement for Thrivent or Jason Henke. If any other members' businesses offered charitable giving avenues in which Parkville Rotary could be listed, we would look into that option as well. There is no commitment from the club for our club to be listed in Thrivent's online catalog.
Parkville Police Department - Shop with a Cop
Dave Rittman delivered a $2,000 check to the Parkville Police Department recently for the Shop with a Cop program. Our club has donated to this program for quite a few years now.
What is Shop With A Cop?
The purpose of the Shop with a Cop event is to foster positive relationships between youth and the Police.
Parkville area children are selected each year during the end-of-the-year holiday season to shop at one of the local area stores to purchase gifts for themselves and members of their immediate family.
A police officer will escort each child around the store and assist in selecting appropriate gifts. While shopping, the children have the opportunity to get to know the officer. After shopping, the gifts are wrapped by volunteers and given to the parents.

Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI)
Rotary Leadership Institute is a leadership development program designed for those Rotarians who have the potential and willingness to engage in club leadership (not necessarily as club presidents) to provide them with a quality education in Rotary knowledge and leadership skills so important in voluntary organizations. The leadership skills you will develop at RLI will help you in your leadership efforts professionally and in other service organizations as well as in Rotary.
