Obituary for Sandra K Breckon
1941 - 2025
Sandra K, Breckon, age 84, lovingly called Sandy, Mom, and Grandma, passed away peacefully November 13, 2025, surrounded by family.  She is survived by her husband Don, to whom she was married 66 years, daughters Lori Hare (Paul), LeeAnne Rice (Tom), Lisa Jensen (David), and Lynanne “Wendy” Greer (Phillip); grandchildren Ray Hare, Josh Hare, Maddi Rice, Sammi Feldpausch (Trevor), Kyrstin Jensen, Andrew Jensen, Victoria Gaffney (David) and soon to be born great grandson Azaiah Gaffney.

Sandy was born in Port Huron, Michigan to her now deceased parents, Harold and Margaret Biehn.  She was employed by Household Finance, Fidelity Credit Corporation, General Telephone Company, and Mt Pleasant Public Schools, generally in financial or administrative assistant work.

Sandy was an active volunteer with PTA’s and served in several leadership roles in her Community of Christ congregation.  She was an active volunteer in leadership roles for the American Cancer Society and the Central Michigan Hospital Auxiliary.  She greatly enjoyed being a docent at the Kansas City Zoo.  As the wife of a university president, she hosted many social events, and assisted in fundraising, and alumni work.

Sandy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She made friends easily, and enjoyed meeting new friends, in her volunteer work, and while on her many cruises and safaris. She loved live theater, music and dance, especially Broadway musicals and concerts.

A private celebration of her life will be held by her family later.  Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers can send it to Hope Community Presbyterian Church, 212 S. 5th Ave, Virginia, MN 55792

Arrangements are being handled by Bauman Family Funeral Chapel in Virginia, MN.

Operation Full Plate: United to Fight Hunger

Rotary District 6040 is excited to launch Operation Full Plate: United to Fight Hunger — a friendly competition between Zones 30 & 31 to make a measurable impact on food insecurity while creating opportunities for engagement and membership growth.  The contest is running NOW through Jan. 10, 2026. We know all of our clubs work hard on this area of focus - food insecurity.  So, let's see how our District can unite to serve others!

How it works:
Clubs choose any hunger-focused service project(s): food drives, fundraising, volunteering at pantries, meal packing, etc., then report their impact to their Districts. Your lead contact for Operation Full Plate to collect this info is Kandi Kos (that's me!). Please use the attached spreadsheet to track your members' progress. You do not need to calculate your club's points - the Zone leaders will handle that. At the conclusion of the campaign, I will report D6040's totals.
Points Earned
  • 1 point per food item donated
  • 1 point per dollar contributed
  • 1 point per public image activity
  • 3 points per Rotarian volunteer hour
  • 5 points per non-Rotarian volunteer engaged
Parkville Rotary Club is currently at 40 points currently if the club reports points as WSKF Architects, Dalyn's company, had eight employees pack bags for Feed Northland Kids last Friday.

Incentives
  • Winning Zone: Virtual Happy Hour with Director Brian Hall
  • Top District: Membership Grant-$500
  • Losing Zone Coordinator Team: Volunteers an extra 10 hours fighting hunger

What We Need From You
  1. Promote the campaign to your clubs.
