Edie Hays' Husband, Kim, Passed Away
Born April 17, 1953 in Independence, MO as the first of three children, Kim was the son of Donald and Marilyn (Bryan) Hays. He met Edith (Edie) Lynne Madden in March of 1976 and immediately told his friends that he was going to marry her. They were married at St. Patrick’s Church on June 11, 1977 and were married for 44 years. They had 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
Kim was an outdoorsman who loved traveling, camping, hiking, sailing, rock climbing, and cycling. When at home he enjoyed watching the Royals and Chiefs games, working with his hands, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a man of many hobbies. He worked for General Motors in Fairfax, KS for 38 years and was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Weston, MO. He was involved with the Boy Scouts as a scout leader for Weston Troop 249 for several years during which he most enjoyed accompanying them on a trip to Philmont. He was a unit commissioner for the North Star District of the Heart of America Council. He was an honorary warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Kim is survived by his wife, Edie Hays; mother, Marilyn Hays; 2 sisters, Joy (Bill) Whitlow, Ronda (Tom Stone) Wood; 3 children, Nicholas (Ashley) Hays of Kansas City, Jessie (James) Carothers of Platte City, and Shannon (Deidre) Ashley of Kansas City; 7 grandchildren, Ava, Peyton, and Madden Cook, Elizabeth and James “Mack” Carothers, Serenity and Terek Hays; and many other loving relatives. He is preceded in death by his father Donald Hays.
A visitation will be held 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Weston, MO. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 18, at the church. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Weston.

District Governor Nominations
Your club is invited to submit nominations for District Governor for Rotary year 2025-2026. You, as a Rotarian in good standing, may submit to your Club President and Secretary, the name of a Rotarian in your club who you believe would be willing and qualified to serve as District Governor. This person should be voted on by your club and his/her name, along with the application and all needed signatures, submitted to the District Nominating Committee. The District Nominating Committee, in accordance with Section 14.020.3 of the RI Bylaws, will consist of the last five Past District Governors. They are the voting members. The current District Governor, Governor-Elect, Governor-Nominee, and the Governor Nominee-Designate will also serve on the committee as non-voting members.
