Parkville Rotary Plaza Status Update
Yesterday morning (Monday Oct 26, 2026) the Rotary clock was relocated to it's new location in Parkville Rotary Plaza. Originally installed in Rotary Triangle at Hwy 9 and 1st street in 2006, the clock was installed on a base especially designed for it within English Landing Park adjacent to Farmer's Market.
The expansion of the Hwy 9 intersection will eliminate the former Triangle and it's landscape in the near future due to highway elevation changes. Thus the clock now remains preserved for residents to use and enjoy for years to come at it's new location.
The clock will be operational again in a week or two once power is available to it's base, and it is re-calibrated to run in it's new location.

80 years + 1 day
Thanks for all the birthday wishes – it was a good’un. Celebrated last Sunday w/ local d-i-l; went out to dinner last night – really “whooped it up.” We didn’t make it home until almost 8:30 p.m. Heading north to visit the MN contingent and do it all over again!
As a public service, I offer “Things I’ve learned in my 80 orbits”:
#1 – You’re never too old to “learn something the hard way.”
#2 – No matter how careful the planning; no matter how careful the execution of said plan; there’s always one more idgit than you planned for.
#3 – No matter what happens (or when or where) there’s always someone standing around who “knew it would.”
#4 – I’ll never understand neon hair, shredded jeans, or tats.
#5 – What don’t hurt, don’t work.
#6 – There’s no “hurry up” gear. In overdrive, I top out somewhere between “amble” and “mosey.”
#7 – If science really wants to help humankind, it needs to work on why the floor keeps getting farther and farther away.
#8 – Artificial preservatives are your friends.
#9 – You have a lot more “do da” than “zip-a-dee.”
#10 – You only get 33 minutes from a “5 Hour Energy Drink.”
#11 – You don’t know ANY of the people in People Magazine.
#12 – And finally, you best put the word “pants” on your “out-the-door-checklist.”
