Topic: Building the Future of Park Athletics: Growth, Leadership, and a Championship Culture
Kristin Gillette and Park Coaches/Athletes will present the program this Friday.
Park University Athletics continues to evolve through intentional program growth, strategic leadership, and a commitment to developing Champions of Character. Park Athletics is building for the future through the addition of Women’s Flag Football, leadership transitions within Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, and the continued success of student-athletes and programs on the national stage. Joining our Athletics Director Kristin Gillette is Krishna Lee, Head Flag Football Coach, Erin Cooper, Head Women's Volleyball Coach and Interim Assistant during the postseason run, Cody Chidsey, Head Men's Volleyball Coach, and two students Jovan Nikolich and Moises Ortiz. They'd like to share the vision and decision-making behind expanding opportunities for student-athletes, their historic championship run, and an invitation to watch them in person this season.
Krishna Lee, Cody Chidsey, and Erin Cooper represent an exciting new chapter for Park University Athletics, bringing diverse experiences in coaching, player development, and collegiate athletics. Lee, the inaugural head coach of Women’s Flag Football, brings extensive experience developing female athletes from the youth to professional levels. Chidsey, an All-American student-athlete at Rutgers University, brings a high-level playing background and a commitment to continuing the championship tradition of Park Men’s Volleyball. Cooper combines years of collegiate experience with a strong understanding of Park Athletics, drawing on her background as a student-athlete and her experience in coaching and sport administration. Together, they bring a shared commitment to developing student-athletes, building strong programs, and creating opportunities for success both on and off the field and court. Jovan is originally from Serbia and Moises is from the Dominican Republic; they have numerous recognitions as well.
Parkville Rotary Plaza Status Update
Concrete has been poured at Rotary Plaza as construction continues. Photo 1 (above) taken Tuesday AM Sept 22nd, 2026 shows the new surface of the interior area, and the stone walls nearing design height. They are designed to sit on when completed. The square in the center is where the pedestal to hold the Rotary Clock will be built.
Photo 2 reflects the area just to the east, with the new access sidewalk leading to Farmer's Market. The pipe hole in the concrete in the lower center of the photo is where the drinking water fountain will be going. Landscaping is also beginning beyond that area to the East and South of the project
Project is scheduled for completion about October 31st, weather permitting.

As you plan your fun fall activities, you'll want to be sure to include Lee's Summit's newest signature event - a Halloween-themed costume party at Green Street on Friday, October 30. If you made it to LS for any of the Futbol Friday watch parties, you already know what an electric venue Green Street is, and with it decorated spooktacularly for Boo Ball, it's going to be an epic evening!!
We chose downtown for our location intentionally, as our club and our sister club have been committed to our community for decades. Our mission of service above self plays out as we tend the Rotary garden close to the train tracks, conduct quarterly street cleanups in the downtown corridor, and host our happy hours at downtown establishments. In short, we LOVE our downtown community. So please, get your tickets, come spend some time in our charming downtown district and then party the night away with us at Green Street!!
Get your TICKETS HERE, and if you're interested in sponsoring, we'd love to include you that way as well (please use the contact information below). We hope you'll join us to eat, drink and be scary!!
