Amanda Cunigan is the Director of Community Engagement at Madam President Camp, an organization dedicated to empowering girls to discover their voice, build leadership skills, and see themselves as future leaders in their communities and beyond.
Through Madam President Camp, Amanda has created programs that encourage young women to develop confidence, practice civic engagement, and learn the power of collaboration and service. The camp introduces girls to leadership through hands-on activities, mentorship, and experiences that help them imagine themselves in roles of influence—from community leadership to public service.
Amanda is passionate about helping the next generation of girls understand that their ideas, voices, and leadership matter. Her work focuses on building confidence, encouraging civic awareness, and creating opportunities for young women to step into leadership roles early in life.
Today, Amanda will share more about the mission of Madam President Camp and how the program is helping shape confident, capable leaders for the future.

Dunkin' Donuts Purple Pinky Donut Fundraiser!
The 2026 Purple Pinky Donut Fundraiser is underway. Please help eradicate Polio by designating a Club member to distribute and collect order forms from your Club members. Kathy Leibrand will be our club's representative and will let us know when we will pick up donuts! We have already raised $525 (or 21 dozen donuts!)
Donut Ordering and Payment Please designate one Club Member to collect donut orders. For every $25 donation, the donor receives a box of one dozen donuts with purple
icing.
It is important to note that donuts are provided as a “free gift” to thank Rotarians for their $25 donation to polio eradication. They are not being “sold,” which would be a taxable transaction. 100% of the proceeds go directly to The Rotary Foundation’s End Polio Now Fund. The donuts are being DONATED to this cause by Dunkin’ franchisees at no cost to
Rotary.
7.5x Match Here’s how it works. Each $25 donation is matched by the District* and half matched by Rotary International. The resulting $62.50 is then tripled by the Gates Foundation yielding $187.50 for polio eradication, a powerful 7.5 times multiple of the original $25. (District 6040 will annually match 1:1 total donations up to $20,000!)
Join the PolioPlus Society If a club member donates $100, they receive 4 boxes of donuts and become a
member of the PolioPlus Society. Members commit to donate $100 annually to
eradicate polio and receive a certificate and a PolioPlus lapel pin. Please follow the instructions on the attached application and notify the Club member submitting your Club’s donut order that you are joining the PolioPlus Society and would like 4 boxes of donuts.
Donut Pick Up and Distribution Several Rotarians will meet a representative from each Club in a central location for donut pick up from Friday, April 24th - Thursday, April 30th. The Club
representative will then distribute them to their Club members. The date will be announced in the near future.
Fundraiser History World Polio Day, which is on October 24th every year, is also sometimes referred to as “Purple Pinky Day”. This is because during National Immunization Days kids have their pinkies marked with purple ink that lasts for 30 days, to ensure they are not vaccinated more than once.
In 2017, Dave Baumgartner, a Rotarian and owner of several Kansas City Dunkin’ Donut stores, developed this fundraiser to raise money for polio eradication efforts. In the past, the annual fundraiser was conducted on World Polio Day. This year it coincides with World Immunization Week, April 24-30.
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) The wild polio virus is endemic in only two countries, Afghanistan (4 cases) and
Pakistan (24 cases). The Global Polio Eradication Initiative, launched in 1988, is the primary international partnership dedicated to ending polio, having reduced cases by over 99%. Led by national governments, it involves the World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, CDC, UNICEF, Gates Foundation, and Gavi.

Key aspects of the global effort include:
Goal: To interrupt all wild poliovirus transmission and stop variant outbreaks, with a strategic plan for 2022–2026.
Core Strategies: Immunizing children, surveillance of the virus, and rapid response to outbreaks.
Progress: Wild poliovirus is endemic in only two countries—Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Impact: Over 20 million people are walking today who might have been paralyzed, and 1.5 million lives have been saved.
Challenges: Reaching children in conflict zones and combating vaccine-derived outbreaks in areas with low immunity.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention | CDC - The initiative represents the largest public health partnership, supported by governments, private donors, and international organizations.

The highly anticipated Parkville Micro Brewfest is just around the corner, and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this year’s event a success! If you love the energy of a festival and want to support our local community, we would love to have you on the team.
We are currently looking for volunteers to staff the merchandise tent on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The festival officially opens at 1:00 PM, which is typically our busiest and most exciting time. We are looking for help during the following windows:
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (peak hours!)
3:00 PM – 5:00 PM (Or until merchandise is sold out)
