Thank You to Everyone Who Attended Last Night's Annual Trivia for a Cause

Last night was a powerful reminder of what happens when a community comes together with heart and purpose. 💙

Parkville Rotary was proud to host our Feed Northland Kids event, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up, donated, volunteered, and supported this mission. Because of you, we raised approximately $3,200 (and still counting!) and collected a tremendous amount of food to help local children facing food insecurity right here in the Northland.

This is what Service Above Self looks like — neighbors showing up for neighbors, and a community choosing to care.

Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, and every guest who gave their time and generosity. Your support will make a real difference for kids and families in our area.

We are so proud of this community and thank you to Scott Walterbach for hosting the trivia questions. I heard he had some hard ones!

We’re gearing up for the Kindest Kansas Citian Read-A-Thon, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

This special day kicks off the selection process for the Kindest Kansas Citians. Volunteers read essays and drawings written by students in grades K–12, each one nominating an everyday hero who makes our community a better, kinder place — teachers, neighbors, coaches, first responders, and more.
This tradition has been going strong for 36 years, with nearly half a million students participating since it began.

The winning students and their nominees will later be honored at the 36th Annual Kindest Kansas Citian Awards in April.

Flag Refurbishment Final Report

There were 5 work sessions organized over about 2 weeks with the last one on New Years Eve. Volunteers drilled holes in 130 new poles. Old flags were transported to the Park Underground. Old flags and poles were disassembled. Damaged poles and tattered flags were discarded. Old poles were re-varnished with one coat. New poles were varnished with 3 coats. Flags and poles were re-assembled, many with brand new beautiful flags.  Flags were returned to storage. Storage locations include the old Rotary library, Meyer's Funeral Home, and Neil Davidson's garage.

Apologies to anyone I missed.

We now have 524 wood pole flag assemblies, many of which are brand new flags mounted on brand new poles.  There are also 50 flags mounted on aluminum poses which we will use strictly as backups.

We sold 430 flags in 2025, so we have room to grow!  First wave of yearly renewal invoices (email) will start in the next few weeks.

Let's help make the 250th anniversary of our country a good one!
