That's Close!
an email from the District Governor
To all 6040 Rotarians:
Whew! That was close. What a game. I’m sure many of you just finished watching the Chiefs pull out another win in the last minute. Patrick Mahomes said after the game “players make plays”.
Just like the Chiefs, we are that close to finishing the fundraising to help Honduras with desperately needed PPE for frontline medical workers in 26 COVID clinics around the country. Our district, through the Waldo Brookside Club and the Villa Real de Tegucigalpa Rotary Club in Honduras have put together a global grant to purchase a six month supply of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). They have been reusing supplies that was meant to be disposable in their work with COVID patients, because they have no choice.
To make matters worse, Honduras has been hit with two Category 4 Hurricanes in the last three weeks. There has been massive flooding and damage throughout the country. This will only increase the COVID spread because so many people are displaced. The attached pictures show the situation.
The way this $165,800 grant has been put together allows Clubs, individual Rotarians and other Districts to participate in this effort. Any contributions you make will be counted as Rotary Foundation donations. You will receive credit for them. A deadline of December 1 has been established because of the urgent need to complete this grant, purchase the equipment, and ship it to Honduras. Tonight, we are $9000 short of our goal. If you or your Club would like to contribute $250 or more, please let Karyn Eppler (Eppler.karyn@gmail.com) or myself know what amount you are pledging. If you have questions, please let us know.
Thank you much to all the Clubs and individuals who have already contributed. Thanks to all for all the good you do through Rotary everyday. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as we enter this unique holiday season.
