That's Close!
an email from the District Governor

To all 6040 Rotarians:

Whew! That was close. What a game. I’m sure many of you just finished watching the Chiefs pull out another win in the last minute. Patrick Mahomes said after the game “players make plays”.

Just like the Chiefs, we are that close to finishing the fundraising to help Honduras with desperately needed PPE for frontline medical workers in 26 COVID clinics around the country. Our district, through the Waldo Brookside Club and the Villa Real de Tegucigalpa Rotary Club in Honduras have put together a global grant to purchase a six month supply of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). They have been reusing supplies that was meant to be disposable in their work with COVID patients, because they have no choice.

To make matters worse, Honduras has been hit with two Category 4 Hurricanes in the last three weeks. There has been massive flooding and damage throughout the country. This will only increase the COVID spread because so many people are displaced. The attached pictures show the situation.

The way this $165,800 grant has been put together allows Clubs, individual Rotarians and other Districts to participate in this effort. Any contributions you make will be counted as Rotary Foundation donations. You will receive credit for them. A deadline of December 1 has been established because of the urgent need to complete this grant, purchase the equipment, and ship it to Honduras. Tonight, we are $9000 short of our goal. If you or your Club would like to contribute $250 or more, please let Karyn Eppler (Eppler.karyn@gmail.com) or myself know what amount you are pledging. If you have questions, please let us know.

Thank you much to all the Clubs and individuals who have already contributed.  Thanks to all for all the good you do through Rotary everyday. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as we enter this unique holiday season.

Chillicothe's 100th Celebration is Postponed

To all District 6040 Rotarians,

Due to the increase in COVID cases in the area, the Chillicothe Rotary Club board has decided to postpone its 100th Anniversary celebration on 12-12-2020.  We desperately want to celebrate this great event.  However, we want to celebration with all that wish to attend and we want to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Have a great and wonderful holiday season and we will be in touch when the event has been rescheduled.

November is Rotary Foundation Month

What are you doing to celebrate Rotary Foundation Month this month? What are you doing to celebrate the good we are doing around the world? One way to celebrate would be to contribute to Every Rotary Every Year (EREY)!

Our club goal has always been $100/member every year. We have met this goal many years. You can either mail a check to our club at: PO Box 12064, Parkville, MO 64152 or you can email Joe Carroll at JCarroll@wells-bank.com and have him put your $100 contribution on the 1st quarter invoice if you prefer.

Please remember though, no donation is too small and all donations are welcome.  Please make sure to tell Joe if you are making a donation to EREY so he can direct the money to the Rotary Foundation. All donations need to be turned in by May 31st, 2021 for this calendar year so Joe has enough time to get the funds to the Rotary Foundation.
