We haven’t seen some you in a while and we miss you! We need your participation! Now is an excellent time to renew your commitment to attend club meetings regularly. We have returned to luncheon meetings in the Park University Commercial Underground; same location and time as before. We have many great programs planned and would love to see you. Please join us for lunch and fellowship. If you know someone that could be interested in Rotary, please bring them along. Hope to see you soon.

Don't Forget: Introducing the Parkville Rotary Book Club
This is an invitation to read a leadership or personal development type book & discuss with your fellow community leaders at Rotary. We will discuss for 10-15 minutes or so after the meeting on Friday 8/13/21 & someone else can pick the next book.
So come with ideas... No need to RSVP, we’re going to keep this very informal. Our book for this first meeting isLeaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek, available on Audible, approximately 8 hours.
About Sinek, from Amazon: “Simon Sinek, an unshakable optimist, is the author of the bestselling book Start with Why, which challenged traditional assumptions about how great leaders and great companies inspire people. He has presented his ideas to Fortune 100 companies and small start-ups; to nonprofits and members of Congress; to foreign ambassadors and the highest levels of the U.S. military, among many others. His TEDTalk based on Start with Why is the second most popular video of all time on TED.com. He lives in New York City.”
About Leaders Eat Last also from Amazon, regarding his search for why some teams pull together & others don’t: “The answer became clear during a conversation with a Marine Corps general. ‘Officers eat last,’ he said. Sinek watched as the most junior Marines ate first while the most senior Marines took their place at the back of the line. What's symbolic in the chow hall is deadly serious on the battlefield: Great leaders sacrifice their own comfort--even their own survival--for the good of those in their care.” This is part of my focus to reconnect with each other after a long COVID hiatus.
I hope you’ll join us.

Volunteer Opportunity! We Need YOU!
Journey to New Life 5K, Saturday, July 31st
JTNL has a fun opportunity for you Saturday July 31st. There are 3 high school students who are hosting a 5k for JTNL. All proceeds go to JTNL! They are needing volunteers to tend the drink stations & cheer on runners.
The race is in Parkville at English Landing Park at 8am. In the volunteer sign-up linked below it says 5 am - 2pm start time but the host sent us the message below.
(It’s says we want volunteers there at 5am but if they are there by 7/7:30 that will be fine. It also says that clean up might run till 2pm but I highly doubt that will happen, just short of a catch all. They should be out of there by 10/10:30.)
