Good Afternoon Dalyn,
Greetings.
My apologies for not informing you on time, about the developments of the Global Grant Project our Clubs did together.
The pandemic and the economic ups and downs made last year a very unstable year.
The project was completed in June 2021, and Dr. Wilfredo Colon, Project Coordinator, provided all the required documentation with respect to how the Global Funds were used in the second phase of the project.
The school teachers received related educational material and were fully trained in the necessary psychological skills to identify characteristics of at risk students, and how to intervene and correct their improper behavior and/or conduct.
In August 2021 the Government, first determined that education was going to be in-person again. Consequently public schools reopened .
Hence, the15 fully trained teachers started their duties and identified a number of high risk students at their school.
Together with the school Director, Psychologist Dr. Colon and his team, an early real time intervention action at school, was planned. This was the opportunity to collect data in real time to measure the effect of the training.
However, schools were barely started, when a new covid-19,I think the Delta variant, outbreak took place. The government shut down all public schools, education went back online, and consequently the action plan could not be carried out. Throughout the year we have been going through this process of opening up, shutting down and online education of schools .
The related Covid variants, as well as government policy responses to the pandemic, have been a headache, a setbacks that we experienced in the development of this project.
Nevertheless, Psychologist Colon informed me that he will continue to coach the teachers in 2022, if this school year educational program that starts in August 2022, is going to be in-person.
We are highly interested in obtaining real life empirical results of this Rotary funded project, even though funding is no longer available. This has been the reason why I postponed the Final Report.
However, I shall not hesitate to finish the report, have it signed and then sent it to you and your team if so required.
Kind Regards,
Armand Piqué
