Back by popular demand: TRIVIA DAY! Five rounds. Bragging rights on the line. Be there.
Flag Assembly Work Day! Volunteers Needed!
We are planning our final work day for the new flags that were back-ordered and finally came in. There are only twenty, so it should not take long, probably an hour or so.
The date is Monday, April 25, at 10:30 AM, at Meyer's Funeral home. We will go to lunch at the Peanut after we are finished. Come join the fun, or just join us for lunch at the Peanut if you cannot make the assembly line.
Also, I will be putting together flag routes in a few weeks, so be checking your calendars for availability, first deployment is May 26, which is several days before Memorial Day!

Parkville Rotary to Help Ukrainians
Parkville Rotary soon will be “passing the hat” for donations to support the many needs of Ukrainian refugees in Moldova. Steven Youngblood is arranging the effort. Steve spent six months in Moldova & knows the language (Romanian). He has been in contact with the Chisinau, Moldova Rotary Club & we are working directly with them to see that any funds sent are spent directly for support of Ukrainian refugees that have ended up there.
Nash Walterbach, Scott’s 8-year-old son, has made the first donation of $35.96 (see photo below). We are partnering with the Downtown KC club in seeking donations, which will be collected through Paypal.
The Chisinau Club will track their expenses and report back to us before we release funds. They are asking for basic necessities such as hygiene products (diapers, tampons, baby shampoo, soap), but also food staples—corn flour, rice, condensed milk, etc. for the refugees.
We are asking all who are able to consider donating $35.96, or $75.96, or $135.96, etc. One hundred percent of all funds donated will go directly to Moldova.
If questions please see Scott Walterbach or Steve Youngblood.

Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY)
It's that time of year again when Joe Carroll, Treasurer, and Dalyn Novak, Foundation Chair, reach out to all members and ask if you've donated your $100 for Every Rotarian Every Year. This program, also known as EREY, asks every Rotarian to support The Rotary Foundation every year.
Even if you can't donate $100 that's okay! We just ask each member to donate what they are able to, be it $10 or $1,000 (or more)! We can dream, can't we? :)
These donations are used to directly help Rotary's 7 Areas of Focus:
Promoting Peace
Fighting Disease
Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
Saving Mothers & Children
Supporting Education
Growing Local Economies
Protecting the Environment
These are all areas that we can get behind as Rotarians! All donations for this calendar year need to be in by June 1st to Joe Carroll. Bring a check to the next meeting you attend or have Joe include it on your next invoice. Please email him at: JCarroll@wells-bank.com.
We have had 100% participation by our members in past years. Need even more information behind why? Click on the blue box below...
We would love for you and your members of Rotary to join us for a Happy Hour on Saturday, 4/9. Our kids need you!
Our all-volunteer team designs and builds custom, electric toy cars and other mobility devices for kids with movement limitations. And, through our Invent for Good program, we mentor middle school through college kids as they design and prototype new tech for our kids. Rotarians have been vital to the success of these programs. The Downtown Club, the Overland Park Club and the Waldo-Brookside Club alone have provided 30% of our volunteers over the last three years. Together, they have given more than 100 kids the freedom to explore, learn and grow.
To fulfill our kids' dreams, we must double our team of designers, builders, project planners, marketers, fundraisers and good-hearted folks so that we can meet the growing demand to get our kids racing. Please join us to see the 40+ cars we have under construction and learn how you can give kids with movement limitations the #Power2Play.
Be inspired and get involved!

LEARN
Fellow Rotarian
Our kids need your help! More than 500,000 American kids with movement limitations are waiting for the #Power2Play. To fulfill their dreams, LEARN’s Geeks for Kids and Invent for Good programs need your expertise to help them thrive.
Think of the happiest memory you have of playing as a kid. What would you have lost if you were unable to experience the magic of that moment?
At Geeks for Kids, we make sure every child experiences that magic. Play is, after all, the work of childhood. Play wires kids’ brains and strengthens their bodies and relationships. Yet, kids with movement limitations sit on life’s sidelines, watching others play. They have 70 to 90% fewer social interactions than their peers.
We change these kids’ lives by giving them the #Power2Play. We make that possible by building a custom, electric car and other assistive devices for each child’s specific needs. And every car, no matter how complex, is delivered at no cost to the recipient family.
Plus, we empower student engineers, programmers and other techs to apply the skills they are learning in classrooms and labs. Our 200+ strong team of professional engineers and other techs mentor these students as they Invent for Good, designing and prototyping cool tech to get our kids moving.
Learn more about how you can be a driving force in giving our kids the #Power2Play. We are seeking new board members, program team leaders, volunteers, and ambassadors.
Date: Saturday, April 9
