Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy holiday season and a Happy New Year!
We hope to see you back after the new year on Friday, January 7th!
REMINDER:
KCI Rotary Club is joining us starting January 7, 2022!
Friday January 7, 2022 will be our first joint meeting with the KCI Rotary Club. We are looking for a few drivers to arrive at 11:45am & act as a pilot car for our KCI friends that have never been in the Parkville Commercial Underground.
Scott Walterbach plans to meet the KCI President, Jennifer Bergman, at that time & see who needs an escort in so they can timely & comfortably find PDL-MA.
No need to sign up, maybe just stop or slow down if you see me wave you down at the cave entrance. We may replicate the effort for the January 14 meeting if KCI expects more first-timers.
Thank you to all for all you do in the name of service! We are excited for KCI Rotary Club to join us!
Below is a link to the directions. Follow the yellow line from the campus entry to the blue circle where we meet.
Rotary Flag Repair Day Report + More Work Days Coming Up!
Neil Davidson, Robert Kersey, David Napoli, Greg Prymak, Sandy Knoernschild, Bob Stone, Tom Taylor and Steve Bleish spent the afternoon working on flags in the area of the Underground provided by Park University.
Today (Monday) we processed 50 new flagpoles, holes drilled, finials attached, varnished, stamped. We also disassembled 125 old flags, re-varnished a few of them. They are currently drying.
We would like to have another work day Wednesday (12/22) morning at 10 AM. We plan to assemble the finished flagpoles and stain the remaining 125.
Next week, we plan to have work days Tuesday (12/28) and Thursday (12/30) morning, to disassemble and re-varnish the 200 or so poles at Meyer's.
We need all the help we can get, on any or all days.Join your Rotary friends for lots of good fun in the underground!

Snowflake Party @ the Rittman's House
Sunday, Jan 16, 2022 – 5:30 PM
The Parkville Rotary Snowflake banquet will be reinstated for this coming year – Jan. 16, 2022. The location is at Dave and Cheryl Rittman’s home on Riss Lake in Parkville.
The heavy appetizers provided by Guy Tamburello, a local prestigious caterer will include:
. Oven Roasted stuffed Mushroom caps
. Shrimp cocktail
. Bacon wrapped water chestnuts
. Beef Tenderloin medallions in Peppercorn sauce
. Caprese Sticks
. Lobster Mac and Cheese
. Chicken Piccata Skewers
There also will be an open bar with quality champagne, beer, wine, other beverages
Please RSVP through Bob Stone early – while the home can host a good size event (about 55), it’s possible that we could sell out due to space limitations – thus first come, first serve in terms of reservations. Similar to our last snowflake in Jan 2020 – there will be a flat rate amount TDB charged to your Rotary account. We regret that cancellations cannot be accepted within 7 days of the event due to catering guarantees, unless another last minute member reservation is received that can offset the fixed catering cost.
While one week later in January than typical due to caterer availability .. the house will be left decorated for Christmas, both inside and outside. Should the Chiefs be playing in the wild card games scheduled that Sunday during the Snowflake – arrangements will be made for the game to be viewed at several points within the home while the event goes on, of course.
It’s going to be a great night – mark it down on your calendars and email Bob Stone (rd_stone@icloud.com) as he is taking RSVP's for the event.
