A Connecticut Yankee by birth Lee’s first 9 years were spent in New Haven where his father worked for Wire Rope Corporation of America. His family moved to St. Joseph, MO in 1950 where the company was transferred to be closer to their wire supplier, Armco Steel in Kansas City. He attended elementary school and Central High School. Following graduation they moved to North Easton, MA when his dad went to work for his grandfather at an iron foundry which manufactured parts for many types of tools. He attended the University of Massachusetts and earned a BS in Wildlife Management. He headed west to seek my fortune. Lee spent the following summer working at a national wildlife refuge in Northwest Missouri. Then it was off to the University of Missouri where he earned a masters degree in entomology. It was there he met his wife Carol. After finishing at Mizzou they moved to Kansas City where Carol became a guidance counselor at Oak Park High School. They have two children: Brian and Sara.
Lee was an area Entomologist for the Missouri Department of Agriculture where he was responsible for inspections of nurseries, garden centers, and greenhouses looking for insect pests and plant diseases. Additional duties included trapping and monitoring exotic pests such as Japanese Beetle and Gypsy Moth and speaking to various groups regarding plant pests. Concurrently with my full-time job, he was also an adjunct instructor of Biology at Maple Woods Community College, a position he held until retiring in 2012.

Thank you to all those who participated in reading Book 1 - Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek. Book two will be Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss.
The goal of this group is to read a leadership or personal development type book & discuss with your fellow community leaders at Rotary. We will discuss for 10-15 minutes or so after the meeting on Friday, September 24th.
So come with ideas... No need to RSVP, we’re going to keep this very informal.
