THIS FRIDAY! Round 2 w/ District Governor Randy Steinman
We are meeting for our next session with District Governor Randy Steinman on Friday, August 18th at noon at Gusto Coffee.
The purpose of this meeting is to bring together our lists of "thought leaders". As a reminder, we started meeting with Randy in order to put together a plan of how to best work with the leaders in our community in order to learn about how they think Parkville Rotary can best serve our community. This next meeting will be discussing our prospective lists and our next course of action. I am resharing Randy's handout here for convenience if you want to review.
We hope you can attend but understand schedules don't always allow. This does not mean your participation isn't welcome. If you have a list of people you would consider to be "thought leaders", please reach out to myself or Sandy Knoernschild and we will bring your list to our meeting on the 18th.
As always, if you have any questions, please reach out,
michelle@audraheller.com.
Have a great day.
Michelle
Parkville Rotary Donation to Maui
The Parkville Rotary Board recently passed a motion to donate $300 to Maui for relief efforts after the wildfires. The board is working on setting up a way for additional donations to be made online. Checks and cash can still be given to Joe as well if you are interested in donating.
Parkville Rotary Sign Upkeep
Parkville Rotary's street signs have all been cleaned up along Hwy 9, Hwy 45, and 64th Street. The club is looking for someone to take over this as their personal project for future cleaning. This task only needs to be completed once or twice a year.
If you are interested please let Bob Stone (rd_stone@icloud.com) or Dalyn Novak (dnovak@wskfarch.com) know. Thanks!

Email from Julie McCoy
To all District 6040 Rotarians...Good Monday Morning,
I am one of your Past District Governors, Julie McCoy, from Chillicothe Rotary. I served District 6040 in the 2018-2019 Rotary year. I have just been appointed as your Zone 31 Assistant Rotary Coordinator...which means that I am here to help Clubs and District with membership and club growth. Rotary is a passion of mine, and I am worried about the continual decline of Rotary members within our clubs. Covid was not kind to Rotary. We lost clubs and we lost members. In fact, I heard Rotary General Secretary, John Hewko, use the word "crisis" in speaking about Rotary membership in North America.
So, let's work together and do something about it. One trait of growing clubs is that many members bring new members into Rotary. However, statistically most clubs have about one or two members that bring in new members. We are going to change that. I am going to issue a Membership Challenge each month to each of you to bring someone to a Rotary event. The goal is obviously to increase our Rotary Membership.
August is Back to School month...so the first Membership Challenge is...Bring Someone Back to Rotary. This could be someone who is no longer a Rotary member; but was at one time. It could be a Rotary Alumni...scholarship recipient, group study exchange team member, a form exchange student, or a member of Rotaract or Interact. It could also be a current member of your club that doesn't attend regularly, and you'd like to get them excited about Rotary again. There are lots of possibilities for inviting someone back to Rotary!
Club President Challenge...let's make time in one of your weekly meetings to talk about this. Make a list, start calling people, develop teams to work on this...you get the idea. But let's talk about Bringing Someone Back to Rotary and make it a priority. We are people of action.
Parkville Rotary will be participating in the annual parade again this year. Bob & Cherry Stone are unable to attend so Robert Kersey is in charge of the planning. If you would like to drive or walk in the parade with our club please reach out to Robert by email at kersey_r@yahoo.com.
1. Save the date for Saturday, November 4 from 6-9pm.
2. Register for Foundation HOOP-la 2023. Registration will open soon.
3. Dig into your closet for your best pair of sneakers and dig out your favorite team jersey (basketball or otherwise). The event is very casual!
4. Consider donating an item for the silent auction and a bottle or two of wine or whiskey for the wine/whiskey pull. We’ll have both a silent and live auction during the night. Could you help by donating an auction item? Information on donating items will be sent out soon.
If you have any questions, please contact Frances Reddis, HOOP-la Committee Chair, at: freddis2014@hotmail.com or 816-853-3256.
I look forward to seeing you on November 4th!
