Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House is to provide a Home Away from Home for families who have seriously ill children at one of our local hospitals. Most of our families live in small towns, rural areas, or farming communities where critical care is not available. When moms and dads find out that their child has a medical emergency or life-threatening illness, they must travel to a big city to find the right kind of doctors and nurses. But most of our families have never been in Kansas City. In a strange place far from home, with no friends or family and no place to live, Ronald McDonald House provides safe, comfortable, affordable lodging for as long as they need while their child is in the hospital. Whether for six weeks or six months, families can stay with us at no cost at all.
