Park Athletics is building for the future through the addition of Women’s Flag Football, leadership transitions within Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, and the continued success of student-athletes and programs on the national stage. Joining our Athletics Director Kristin Gillette is Krishna Lee, Head Flag Football Coach, Erin Cooper, Head Women's Volleyball Coach and Interim Assistant during the postseason run, Cody Chidsey, Head Men's Volleyball Coach, and two students Jovan Nikolich and Moises Ortiz. They'd like to share the vision and decision-making behind expanding opportunities for student-athletes, their historic championship run, and an invitation to watch them in person this season. Krishna Lee, Cody Chidsey, and Erin Cooper represent an exciting new chapter for Park University Athletics, bringing diverse experiences in coaching, player development, and collegiate athletics. Lee, the inaugural head coach of Women’s Flag Football, brings extensive experience developing female athletes from the youth to professional levels. Chidsey, an All-American student-athlete at Rutgers University, brings a high-level playing background and a commitment to continuing the championship tradition of Park Men’s Volleyball. Cooper combines years of collegiate experience with a strong understanding of Park Athletics, drawing on her background as a student-athlete and her experience in coaching and sport administration. Together, they bring a shared commitment to developing student-athletes, building strong programs, and creating opportunities for success both on and off the field and court. Jovan is originally from Serbia and Moises is from the Dominican Republic; they have numerous recognitions as well.	View

2026-11-11 00:00:00Z	Nov 10, 2026	Veterans Day		Nov 11, 2026		History of Veterans Day World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” – officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.” Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. The nation then celebrated its first Thanksgiving under its new Constitution. On October 3, 1863, President Lincoln made the traditional Thanksgiving celebration a nationwide holiday to be commemorated each year on the fourth Thursday of November. In the midst of a bloody Civil War, President Lincoln issued a Presidential Proclamation in which he enumerated the blessings of the American people and called upon his countrymen to "set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise." From 1801 until its end in 1932, the New Year's Reception at the White House was a tradition met with anticipation by diplomats, government officials, military officers, and the public alike. Everyone from the common citizen to the highest-ranking diplomat was welcomed. By the early 20th century, crowds swelled to more than 6,000, and a line on the sidewalk outside the White House snaked out beyond the gates and around the block bordering the old State, War, and Navy building (now known as the Eisenhower Executive Office Building).
